Your support has been tremendous
I had a quiet dinner with my wife at Gibson’s in Chicago after the celebration in the clubhouse Saturday night. I know that a lot of the guys got together later that night, and while I obviously enjoyed celebrating with them at the ballpark, I know that my wife didn’t get to take part in that celebration so I wanted to have an opportunity to share it with her as well.
So we had a quiet bite to eat and then went back to the hotel to get some sleep, which we didn’t end up getting. We were up the whole night. Even though we both tried to relax, we were absolutely wired to the point of breakfast coming to our door without a whole lot of snooze time.
Now we go back to work today with a light workout at the ballpark and turn our focus to the Rockies. Before I do that though, I want to take a moment to say thank you for the comments that have been posted by people in response to this blog.
It’s special to me when your hometown fans support you and what you’re about and what you’re doing. So, too, have the comments that I’ve gotten so far. It just makes me feel good. It also reminds you that you’re going about your business the right way and that day in and day out, when the eyes are on you, that they, one, have an expectation and, two, have the confidence in you in those situations.
It just means a lot to me, and I’m thankful for it. It’s exciting — especially this time of year — to have our fans so in tune with what we are doing, and it’s been a whole lot of fun for me to bring a little insight behind the scenes through this blog as we go through the postseason.

I just wanted to say, ever since Tony Clark signed my lucky baseball he’s been HOT! The game he signed it was against the Rockies where he had 5 RBIs and 2 home runs.
Good luck to Tony and the rest of the Diamondbacks. It’s gonna be a competitive series.
Tony, I was asked who’s jersey I was going to buy with the new colors. After several guesses my friend finally picked your name. When I said yes the next question was why?. I love the way you play the game. I was very upset when they let Gonzo and Council go. I thought they blew it and I still think it was a mistake, but its working. My Grandma got me to fall in love with baseball and the year the D-backs one the series she lost her memory to alzheimer’s disease. She passed away Sept. 23 2007 and can now watch and understand the games again. I know she loves the way you guys play the game! Best of luck!!
Tony, We need to be the ones thankfull to all of you guys, you go out there day after day and work hard. All we do is to watch you guys, and enjoy ever minute of it. Then you also take time out to do these post. Well I want to thank you. I also want to thank your family and all of your guys family for the sacerfise they have done when you guys are on the road. The least we can do is support you guys. Even though I do not get to go to alot of games (live in Tucson)you can believe I am at home cheering you guys all. No matter what happens from here I am proud to be an Arizona DBacks fan. Go get the Rockies

you’re welcome. We’re living in a relatively new baseball city and learning how to be the future “best fans in baseball”. We take a few knocks about being fair-weather fans, and to some extent we deserve it.

I’ve enjoyed following your career since your days with Coach O at the UofA (that’s a long time ago, eh!?). Who knew you’d end up being a successful baseball player back then (besides you, of course!).
I really enjoy watching the way you play the game of baseball and I look forward to your catching the throw from one of the other D’Back infielders for the final out of the 2007 World Series. We’ll all be jumping up and down with you guys (like we did in 2001 when Gonzo hit that blooper!).

Tony, I first wanna congratulate you and the rest of the squad for suprising the heck out of the rest of the league and the world!! I am a service member stationed here in Korea and been a diahard Dbacks fan since the beginning (1998)and have been catching flak all season long about how we would never make the playoffs and that we were just getting “lucky” etc…after taking care of Chicago the way you did…people are finally starting to see the light! I have been an avid reader of your blog and think it’s great, it really shows what kind of class act-type of individual you are…props to you man! We’re pulling for you over here all the way on the other side of the world, make us proud….even though you already have!!!

I just want to say it is a pleasure in this day and age to see veteran players with such humbleness and a desire to be a support to their community. You have been an inspiration to me from back in the days when I was a 4th grader going to Basketball tournaments in Riverside, Rancho Bernardo, and 29 Palms with the Spring Valley Rec. Allstars. You were on the older team with my cousin Shannon Lefever as well as Domingo Rivera, Chris Esquibel (too name a few). You have always conducted yourself in a manner that expresses true professionalism and I only wish that more professional athletes would follow suit. Good Luck in the playoffs!
P.s….After you get this ring, the Padres need some more big bats…come on home! hahahaha

I will be at the game tomorrow, cheering like a maniac. I understand the Rockies are a tough team and are on a hot streak, but my bet is on my Dbacks. I want to wish all of you the best of everything in this series. Just a note I was at game 1 of the NLDS and was sitting in the midst of a bunch of Cub fans–the young man to my left was particularly offensive because he was making fun of Dback players–I asked him why he felt it necessary to be a fan of one team he had to bash the other team? Why not show respect to your opponent. They are all competitors–disrespecting people is not the thing to do. I hope he pays attention.I never see our players disrespecting another team that’s so immature.I just want to wish all of you the best of Luck in this series I will be in the stands rooting my heart out. Tell all the dbacks they are a class act and I appreciate them. No matter the outcome here it has been a most wonderful season, entertaining and refreshing all those handsome young faces–playing hard. I look forward to next season. You have always been a class act Tony and it has rubbed off on this team–how great is that!!!!!!!!!!
